What a combination! Beautiful.
Thanks Anneli!
I love those knarly old oaks. I’ve noticed our city is planting some youngish (30 foot) oaks when the old ones come down. That’s a good thing.
Yes that is the kind of problem we have trying to replace these ancient trees – need a long term plan!
Lovely place!
It really is Emilie, a designed landscape of stunning natural beauty 🙂
Mike, you do put your feet in some beautiful landscapes! Where are these oaks & what are the breeds? Are the deer also rare?
Dinefwr Park in Carmarthenshire, an historic designed landscape with around 300 trees over 400 years old. The white park cattle can be traced back 1000 years to this estate and were thought to have been introduced by the Romans. The fallow deer herd has been in that deer park for around 300 years, so it’s an amazingly unique place – the lichens on the trees are outstanding and of international importance, it’s a stunning place 🙂
