Just back from a great road trip around the Mid-West USA. Amazing contrasts in landscapes and weather. The Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming was beautiful, cold (snowing at times), remote, haunting…hiking in the land of the Grizzly Bear and the Mountain Lion focusses the mind somewhat, but it gives the land a wildness that I love.
Next phase of our conservation grazing project on the Great Orme, the arrival of a flock of Lakeland Herdwicks which are used to harsh weather, just as well up here. Some plant and butterfly species that only exist in this limestone grassland and nowhere else in the world are relying on them to do a good job. I think they look up to the task.
I used some acoustic instruments to create a rustic, folksy sound to evoke hard times gone by in the American west
After several nominations for this and previous albums I actually won! Thank you to everyone at One World Music Radio and everyone who voted for Lichens as Best Instrumental Album 2015. I want to dedicate the award to my friend Andy Meyrick who always said nice things about my music. We miss you and are so sad that you had to leave us, RIP mate.
