img_0122Next phase of our conservation grazing project on the Great Orme, the arrival of a flock of Lakeland Herdwicks which are used to harsh weather, just as well up here. Some plant and butterfly species that only exist in this limestone grassland and nowhere else in the world are relying on them to do a good job. I think they look up to the task.

I used some acoustic instruments to create a rustic, folksy sound to evoke hard times gone by in the American west

“Lichens” wins Best Instrumental Album Award

After several nominations for this and previous albums I actually won! Thank you to everyone at One World Music Radio and everyone who voted for Lichens as Best Instrumental Album 2015. I want to dedicate the award to my friend Andy Meyrick who always said nice things about my music. We miss you and are so sad that you had to leave us, RIP mate.

Blanket bog CwmfynnonComing down off Glyder Fawr (see summit picture below) and into this lovely blanket bog of cotton grass in Cwmfynnon was a very nice way to end an epic walk, and it was all for work, which can’t be bad

Where the sea used to be and now is again…

Cwm Ivy vistaThe National Trust, for whom I work, took the brave decision to allow the sea to re-claim farmland which was annexed by a sea wall in the 1600’s.  In a very short space of time a complex ecosystem has emerged with a range of small mudflat creatures attracting otters, breeding lapwing and, hopefully in time, breeding osprey.
